We've been discussing the possibility of becoming members of WCRC for several months now in our high school Sunday School classes.
Students should consider making Profession of Faith if they can truly answer 'yes' to the following questions:
Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God sent to redeem the world?
Do you love and trust him as the one who saves you from your sin?
Do you with repentance and joy embrace him as Lord of your life?
Do you believe that the Bible is the Word of God?
Do you believe that the things WCRC teaches and preaches faithfully reflect the Bible?
Do you accept the gracious promises of God sealed to you in your baptism and do you affirm your union with Christ and his church which your baptism signifies?
Do you promise to do all you can, with the help of the Holy Spirit,
to strengthen your love and commitment to Christ by sharing faithfully in the life of the church,
honoring and submitting to its authority;
and do you join with the people of God in doing the work of the Lord everywhere?
For students and other new Christians, making a Profession of Faith involves two steps:
Meeting with the elders: This sounds really scary, but it's not. As elders, we love to hear about how people love Christ and His church, and it's an enjoyable process for both the elders and new members. We will get to know one another, and the elders will ask the students some of the questions listed above. We will not try to trick or stump you, but we do want to make sure each student truly knows Christ.
Professing your faith in front of the congregation: This sounds even scarier, but it's not. Everybody in the building will be rejoicing that you're there!
There are two opportunities to meet with the elders:
Tuesday, March 29 at 7 PM
Tuesday, April 26 at 7PM
If neither of these times work, we will figure out a time that does.
We hope to have all of the kids be able to make their public profession of faith sometime in May.
Please indicate which of these elders meetings you can attend:
