John 6

Dig Deeper:

THEY'RE BACK! One aspect that really stood out in Mark's gospel is the crowd that treated Jesus like rock star, but was not really interested in who He was, but rather what He could do for their immediate needs. That crowd shows up in John's gospel as well (v2), only this time, they want to 'make Jesus king by force (v15).' But Jesus shows that He is not the least bit interested in people who follow Him for shallow, earthly reasons (v26ff).

YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION: We all have different occupations, yet we all have the same work to do, and it's quite simple:

The work of God is this: to believe in the one that He has sent (v29).

How are you working at your belief?

COMMUNION REVIEW: We just celebrated communion yesterday at WCRC. Here's a verse to meditate on in these upcoming days as we reflect upon that:

Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them (v54-56).

YOU'VE BEEN GIVEN THE POWER: If, as you read through these claims Jesus has made about Himself being the way, the truth and the life, you understand that He is who He claimed to be, then you can know that God chose you from before time began to be His own. Only those who have been 'enabled by the Father (v65)' have the ability to understand who Jesus is.

Follow the AAA Prayer Pattern:

  • ACKNOWLEDGE WHO GOD IS: Our Father, the giver of the bread of life (v32)

  • ALIGN YOUR LIFE WITH GOD'S WILL: Pray that God grants you the ability to do His work - that is believing with your whole being into the one He sent (v29)

  • ASK GOD FOR WHAT YOU NEED:
